Your Art Practice:
Imagine in Weird Ways
Your art practice is all about imagining in wonderfully weird ways. It encourages you to play, be beautifully silly, and find delight in your senses. In this practice, you'll also discover the power of self-compassion, the beauty of embracing your quirks. It's about embracing the unconventional, breaking free of the norm, letting your mind wander through the realms of the bizarre, and exploring the odd, the curious, and the fantastical. So let's get your imagination activated with some fun and simple creativity.
-
Let your curiosity run wild. Tune into your senses and observe the world around you as you might have done as a child. Pay attention to the small bugs, the songs in your head, the swaying movement in your body, or even the peculiar sensation of your hair. Find moments of amusement in the everyday.
-
Allow yourself to be wonderfully silly and weird. This could involve giving voices and personalities to inanimate objects, tapping out the rhythm of your favourite tune on a tabletop, or wiggling your bum in amusing and peculiar ways (try it in the shower to start your day with a smile). You might even spend time drawing eyes on seaweed. Anything that piques your interest, brightens your day, and brings a smile to your face is perfect.
-
Immerse yourself in play until you feel utterly carefree. If you feel like sitting with your eyes closed and drawing for hours, go ahead. Let your body loosen up and embrace a sense of freedom, even if it's just a small part of you. Wiggle your fingers energetically, make your eyebrows dance, and allow your inner creative spirit to shine weirdly.
-
Pretend for a moment that you have no context, and observe yourself as if you're watching a playful character. Have a good laugh at the delightful absurdity of it all, and feel incredibly proud of being your most creative, radiant, and weird self. Incorporate these imaginative and weird moments into your daily life as often as you can.
Why does this creative practice matter?
This practice matters because it reminds you to embrace your inner child and to play without reservations. It encourages you to find joy in the everyday and to approach life with a lighthearted and imaginative spirit. When you play and be beautifully silly and weird, you not only nurture your own creativity but also inspire those around you to infuse more playfulness and laughter into their lives.
It's a delightful way to celebrate the joy, wonder, and eccentricities of the world, and in doing so, you create art that radiates with the weirdness of your true self. Enjoy this playful journey and relish the beauty of silliness in all its wonderfully weird forms.
